C) For percussion:
For all Youth Symphony, Community Orchestra, and Chamber Orchestra percussionists, a custom snare drum part to the "Washington Post" by John Philip Sousa will serve as your audition piece. Three different reference tracks (tempo options) are provided. Rudiments such as drags, flams, and rolls may be omitted partially or entirely (in other words, "single stroke" notes may be substituted throughout). Just select the tempo option that is most comfortable for you (100 BPM, 110 BPM, or 120 BPM) and record yourself playing along with the reference track on a practice pad or snare drum. Remember to state which tempo option you are taking at the start of your recording.

Knowing that many of us do not have access to timpani or mallet instruments over the summer, everyone's ability to play those instruments will be assessed after we return from summer hiatus. Until then, a temporary placement in one of nTyme's ensembles will be based on how rhythmically precise, confident, and nuanced (accents, dynamics, etc.) you appear to be in your recording. If you need a practice pad or any assistance preparing the music, please reach out and let us know..
