nTyme: Setting the Tempo for Music Education

nTyme (North Torrance Youth Musicians Ensemble) was founded in June 2007 with the aim of providing accessible music education to students of all ages and skill levels. Over the years, nTyme has grown into a thriving non-profit organization, driven by the passion of parents and educators who believe in the power of music to transform lives.

From the Director

Welcome to our website www.nTyme.org! nTyme (pronounced “in time”), an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing music education to the youth of our community from preschool through high school.

Director Glen Kamida

Our program is unique because we offer a wide range of classically based ensembles for all string, woodwind, brass, and percussionists. We encourage all students who are interested to participate. No prior musical knowledge or ensemble experience is required to participate in most of our groups. Some of our higher achieving students have been involved as soloists with the groups, conducting, and even music selection.

If you are just interested in listening to incredibly talented young people enthusiastically perform classical and popular music, please check our website for our performance schedule.I look forward to seeing you soon.

Mission Statement

The purpose of North Torrance Youth Musicians Ensemble (“NTYME”) is to provide organizational, logistical and financial support to the North Torrance Symphony Orchestra, North Torrance Jazz Band, North Torrance String Orchestras, and North Torrance Wind Ensembles. NTYME accomplishes these purposes through parental participation in the instrumental music programs through planning, competition logistics and fundraising. NTYME’s success in these activities depends on the degree of communication, coordination and participation among all contributors. NTYME, the director, and the youth musicians depend on each other’s strengths to perform effectively. An effective organization allows the director and the students to concentrate on the technical aspects of their performance.

A Message from the President

Welcome to the North Torrance Youth Musicians Ensemble or “nTyme”! We are a music nonprofit founded by Mr. Glen Kamida (music director) and a small group of parents who wanted to provide instrumental music education to the youth in our coummunity and the surrounding areas. Our mission is to offer a solid music education program to the youth and by providing organizational, logistcal, and financial support, we are able to effectively succeed in accomplishing this mission.

Since late 2007, we are proud to provide a well-balanced musical and performance experience. We offer a wide variety of performing groups at various levels, including orchestra, string orchestra, and concert band. We also offer jazz band, brass ensemble, flute choir, clarinet choir, and a cello/bass ensemble. We hope that you will find a group that fits your child’s needs. We provide an opportunity to create a positive learning environment for our student musicians and for them to actively participate in a mutually exciting journey of success and achievement through music...dreaming big and making big dreams come true!

nTyme 10 year reunion

We encourage all of our families to become active in nTyme. Our music program cannot exist without the support of YOU! Costs continue to rise and educational budgets are being reduced or eliminated. Although fundraising is an important function of nTyme, it is not the organization’s purpose nor is it the reason for the group’s existence; however, we do need everyone’s participation to help us succeed. I thank you in advance for your continued support because withiout you and your talented children to provide the fuel, we couldn’t move forward.

If you have questions concerning any aspect of our program, I will be happy to meet with you at your convenience. You can contact me at [email protected].
